Cathy C. Smith, Founder/CEO of Chameleon Consulting, LLC has a history of pulling banks out from crisis and into the light of solvency. Cathy is known as having the Midas touch in a heavily regulated industry. Equipped with techniques for risk management, she uses technology to assist banks, insurance companies, small businesses, and professional services firms to comply with regulations.
Cathy has a 20-year career in Risk Management and has held senior management positions in Banking, Insurance, Government, and Non-profit organizations. She shares a passion to quickly tackle complex regulatory driven problems with enthusiasm and enjoys building high performance teams.
Cathy helped an investment firm recover from a $7.8 million fine for inaccurate financial transaction reporting. When a Commercial Bank was cited by regulators for weak internal controls, she revamped its operations and secured a satisfactory rating for her client. Most recently, she saved a $100M portfolio of a Global Bank’s Small Business Banking division during an economic downturn and centralized operations for a Community Bank, improving efficiencies in both cases.
Cathy’s speaking appearances include executive education programs at Actiance Unleash 2013 Summit, William Paterson University, and Greater Paterson OIC. She has taught business courses at Passaic County Community College. In addition, she established the first e-learning program for the Department of Labor’s New Jersey Workforce Board, with a population of over 500,000 in Passaic County. Most recently, Cathy has guided businesses into the “digital age” by consulting on digital marketing projects, providing Constant Contact E-mail Marketing services, and advising on social media and website analytics.
Cathy has a Master of Public Administration in Management from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from William Paterson University, a Mini MBA in Digital Marketing from Rutgers University Center of Management Development, Certification in Project Management from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Certificate in Executive Board Leadership from Seton Hall University.
